A: I doubt that you can hook that thing up with a laptop.
Q: independent security camera?
I'm looking for a security camera that doesn't need to be mounted (for a small apartment where I can't nail or screw things in the wall). Inexpensive and small. I also would like to leave it independently running on my bookcase or something like that (with a long enough memory and either AC adaptor or battery to run for about 8 hours). Quality of video is less of a worry (so it doesn't need to be color). Though, I'm looking for low-cost surveillance in my place. Could anyone suggest any products? Thank you!
A: There are a number of cameras that would work that are relatively inexpensive. Another thought is, you could mount it on your bookcase. The screws are relatively small that are required. However, if you don't want to do so, the link below has a number of security cameras that appear to have a wide enough base to stand on their own without screws.
Q: why are the colors on my security cameras washed out, the sky is pink, the grass, bushes and hedges are brown?
A: I was playing around with a wireless camera the other day and noticed the same thing... I'm not sure why but when i angled it in different angles, the colors would change.
You may have to simply move the camera around and tweak the angle until the colors are just right.
Q: ===Wireless security camera???
I am looking for a wireless security camera system (3-4 cameras). It must be color, not 2.4GHz (because I have 2.4GHz router, it may interfere).
Anyone have any recommendation for it?
My goal is to be able to monitor my house while I away (at work) and able to see it online and records it to my computer hard drives.
A: OK here is a scenario. If someone breaks into your home and steals your computer... Or what if your computer crashed... no this never happens with Windows :P
There are many computer video card systems out there, however you may want to consider a separate DVR (Digital Video recorder). There are many models out there but if you are looking for usable image quality you need to be careful about the unit you choose.
As for wireless camera's? Why? Image quality wise you can't beat hardwire. It may look good on a colour monitor but if you compare the two next to each other you will notice major differences in facial details etc. Of course that being said, if you are just doing it for entertainment and basic info I wouldn't worry about the quality.
When it comes to quality lens and camera selection is the most important factor. After all if you have crappy camera's the best DVR will not make a difference. The same goes for a DVR if the camera's are great but the compression on the DVR results in crap images, why waste your money on a DVR?
I know this info is abit choppy, but I am writing this on my way out the door. There is more detailed information on my website at www.keepsafesystems.ca. It should help you with some surveillance questions you may have.
Q: I need to learn more about a cctv camera?
Well, I am kind of interested in possibly getting a cctv spy camera such as the one on this ebay auction http://cgi.ebay.com/Wireless-Color-Pinhole-spy-Security-Camera-CCTV-system_W0QQitemZ250118499692QQihZ015QQcategoryZ14957QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem.
However I don't really know much about them except for the fact that theyre small and wireless. What else should I learn about them? How does the wireless work? Does it need like an internet adapter? If you could answer any of these I would really appreciate it, thanks
A: Hi
The Spy camera (like the ones on Ebay) is easy to set up and usually comes with everything you need. (the ebay page didnt work for me so cannot see what you trying to buy)
The Spy camera itself will be a small camera with a built in transmitter and possibly a few connections to help connect directly with a cable or battery.
It transmitts the signal using the 2.4Ghz or 1.3Ghz radio frequency. There are only 4 channels on this frequency so you are limited to this number of cameras. If you are already using a 2.4Ghz wireless device (or your neighbour), then consider 1 channel used for each device you have. (This is not the same as 2.4Ghz WiFi for computers)
In the package you will recieve a wireless reciever that collects the signal and has some outputs to connect a cable to your TV or recorder. The only reason you may need an adaptor is to convert this cable if you cannot connect it to your recording/display device. Maplins (UK) or Circuit City (US) has these adaptors, or find them on EBAY.
WORD OF CAUTION
I represent a CCTV company and have bought these fairly cheap (& more expensive) wireless cameras. The ones I tried were cheap quality, did not send the video over a great distance and image quality was poor. In addition to this, most of the cameras failed within a couple of weeks. If you do buy one of these cameras, DO NOT expect the camera to send the signal over a great distance.
As a result, I will never sell a normal wireless camera to a client, only professional transmitters or IP cameras which are very expensive.
Hope this info helps, by all means I could have been unlucky with my purchases and my experience does not reflect that of every wireless camera available on the market.
Q: how do I hook this camrea to my computer?
I have a Wireless WaterProof 30 LED Infrared Night Vision Color Security Camera but it only says All image signals is transferred either via WIRELESS or via standard RCA video connector, that means you can hook up this camera to your VCR or PC with AV connectors or via included wireless receiver and monitor and record any image you need, a perfect tool to protect
A: Need more Info but I would Say that you need a video card with A/v inputs or a wireless usb adapter. try the video card first, one with T\V output would be avalable at any office/computer store. you will need lots of memory space for this, Both RAM and hardrive space.
Q: What do you guys think of this spy camera??

Q: Best home security system(DVR+Cameras)?
I'm looking for some good quality home security system(DVR+Color Cameras). I need most capabilities for the DVR like optimized storage, 160GB space, motion detection, good quality, connection to TV/Monitor. Cameras connect to DVR via BNC connector and colored with night-vision.
Suggest any with good balance between price and quality?

Q: Ghost / dust orbs question?
I purchased a small color security camera with infrared and sound for $ 50.00 from home depot. The security camera uses rca cables that hook up to my tv input channel. I placed the security camera outside my bedroom window so I can see who is visiting my home. However, when viewing my security camera on tv when it's dark outside. I have sometimes noticed orbs, possibly dust orbs, traveling in front of the camera. The orbs usually one or two look like they are going toward my house. I was just wondering if anybody else has noticed this while viewing their infrared security cameras at night.
A: First, you have to make sure you ARE viewing orbs and not dust particles in the air. This can be determined easily in several ways:
* Set up a night vision camera (infrared) - which you have already done: This can be a bit costly, but if you wanted to nail down some solid proof of anything supernatural, this is the way to go. A night vision camera not only looks cool with its green tinge, but its super sensitive - like an thermo-based camera. Now, I've never known an ordinary thermocamera to pick up orbs - whereas a Night vision cam is known to pick up some weird images... so I can't be too sure you've got orbs on your recordings (sometimes the images will look a little distorted).
* Take photos: This is best done with a digital camera, as they pick up orbs better than normal disposable cameras (or any film photographs), also you are able to delete digital photos - so you're saving money. It doesn't have to be an expensive camera, but make sure it's got good quality lens (eg: Sony Cybershot cameras). When you're taking photographs, and you catch orb-like objects on them - you need to observe a few things.
- Does it glow? Most orbs will appear to have a glow around them.
- Does it show distinctive movement? Real orbs apparently show movement on videos AND on photographs (even if they ARE sequence shots)
- Does it come out of thin air? Most orbs appear to turn up out of no where.
- What shape is it? Orbs are supposed to be round. If your orbs are anything between diamond shaped or oval - then its just dust.
- Is it alone? Orbs are known to show up on their own, without other orb company. If you've got more than 2 orbs - itβs most likely a 'pack' of dust. Also, dust show swishy sort of movement - like with an airflow. Orbs seem to have a mind of their own.
- Is there a temperature change? Some orbs are linked with ghostly activity, and sometimes only appear in the presence of a ghost.
However its important to note that with a photographic camera - you can get oil, water droplets or dust on your lens (or in front of it) . This can cause orb-like objects to appear on your photographs. What happens is: the light or flash on the camera bounces onto the dust (or oil droplet... etc), and the shine causes them to appear perfectly round and glowing.
Catching an orb on an infrared camera is rare, (if it IS a real orb). I'll suggest you watch the following (just click on 'em in order to watch - you'll need Flash Player though) , and note if any of the orbs you have look like the ones on the following footages:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPXx963w0WE β Possible Orb (Fly By)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49dWWk6P4VE β Red Mysterious Orb (movement)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bQHaeMAN10 β Apparent Orbs zooming past (with ghost)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDGadNSTYkQ - More orbs (with Night vision Camera)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moFkKH2XsZU - Dust orbs
It's almost worth noting, it may be helpful if you can post a small piece of your footage online somwhere for others to see. If one is able to SEE the evidence, then one can conclude.
