Q: Where can I find a hidden/covert outdoor security camera?
I've been searching the net trying to find the perfect hidden camera to monitor the front of my house. There's been burglaries in the neighborhood and just the other day some bastard busted up my car window and stole my speakers and amp.
Just so I can have some piece of mind, I'd like to look into a security/surveilance camera. I want something that can be hidden and doesn't look like a camera. I'd love to find something I could put in a potted plant out front, or something like that. The best thing I've found so far is a Flood Light that's a Hidden Camera, but it's non-functional and I have to have some kind of lighting in my driveway so that's not practical for me.
Any ideas?
A: There are a lot of wireless/nanny cameras out on the market now, but you are probably going to need a night time/low light camera if lighting is not practical in your driveway. Then you will also need to decide how you want to store your video either on a PC or VCR.
The other thing to consider with wireless cameras would be picture quality, so a wired camera might be a better option for you if there is any wireless interference. smarthome.com has a variety of brands but aer usually more expensive. x10 that has a pretty cheap wired camera that is black and white which performs better at night and it plugs right into a vcr
Q: I need an outdoor security camera to watch my back yard?
I'm looking for something that's less than $150, that will monitor my back yard, ideally something wireless. I would like something that can stream to a computer, so wireless b/g is needed. Also, I would prefer something that was able to take decent images at dusk, because one of the concerns I have are deer eating at my garden. I don't want to have to buy a 24hr VCR, or any other equipment, but streaming to a hard drive is no issue.
If possible I'd like something that was motion activated, so that I don't have to sit through 12 hours of video every time a deer eats something.
Also, any software recommendations for this would be appreciated.
How much will I need to spend?
Those seem like a little bit of overkill. I don't need super high quality footage. Just good enough to see where the deer are coming from, and which way the person who keeps stealing my humane squirrel traps comes from.
A: Anything at/below the $150 price point (and even higher) is going to have near-nonexistent low-light performance.
Lumenera makes good quality network security cameras, but they are not cheap. Most of their models are for wired ethernet though.
Q: Anyone Know of a good outdoor security camera dealer in southwest florida near venice or sarasota ?
I need to find a store that sells do it yourself security camera systems near Venice or Sarasota Florida
A: go online to this site...it's great.
I have on my home and garage 3 camera's (wireless with sound) a flood light that sends a chime to the inside when someone comes to my driveway.
you can also use the cameras to turn on light inside the house at night.
sounds complicated but it really isn't...check out the site you won't be disappointed.
Q: what is the best outdoor motion security camera to have?
If you live in a rural area and have heard rumors that there is a peeping tom, what camera would be best used that would not flash at night but video whenever there is motion?
A: I cant tell you what particular cctv camera to buy, but a good make of camera is Micromark cctv systems

Q: What is a decent outdoor/weatherproof CCTV security camera for the money?
any specific model numbers you have from personal exeperience
A: Hi,
The AVC627 from AVTECH is a great example of a low cost outdoor cctv camera. It has great image quality in the day and can see up to 15m in complete darkness at night.
The security camera is supplied in an all in one package including weatherproof housing, lens & bracke all from about $60 or £45.
You can see the full specification and see video of the product by clicking the spec link on the following page.

Q: Any suggested small outdoor security cameras?
Need something small and wireless that can transmit back to my computer if possible, without spending TONS of money. Our town has a lot of vandalism, but recently our mailbox has been bashed 4 times in the past 10 days or so- yesterday they put rotting pumpkin on top of our mail. The mailbox is impossible to see from the house, and hard to find a good stake out spot without being seen, so I need a small camera to put up in a tree. Must be small, wirelss, cheap-ish.
A: I have the same problem. I use JCSurveillance.com for my security cameras.

Q: Home (Outdoor) Network Security Camera Recommendations?
I'm looking for a network security camera that I can put on the front porch (out of the rain/snow, but not out of the cold!). It needs to meet the following critera: 1) Can take HIGH RES pictures - I need to be able to actually SEE who was there, and identify them in court, for example. 2) It must be able to take pictures when it senses motion. 3) As there is lighting on the porch, night vision isn't required, but a low-light feature might be helpful. 4) It needs to store the pics centrally on a local server via ethernet, it case someone tries to damage it. Lastly 5) It has to be "home affordable" - I've found this camera for $3000, now I need a home version.
I've looked everywhere, and all recommendations had horrbile reviews. 3 out of 5 stars at best. HELP ME OUT!!!

Q: best outdoor wireless security camera with zoom?
Hi, I am looking for security cameras which I can put outside of my house, I have a big yard so i am looking for a type that can zoom in to specified places, so far the best i've found is this:http://www.covisec.com/product/SCC-C4307?META=bizrate-SCC-C4307 but im not sure if thats wireless, and the description leaves details out. So if somebody could please direct me to a good camera id appreciate it a lot
A: The camera you are looking at is not wireless. Download the install manual from the Samsung web site: http://www.gviss.com/Default.aspx?tabid=36
Also keep in mind that if you want to cover your entire yard, a "zoom" camera alone probably won't do it. What you really need is a "pan-tilt-zoom" (PTZ) camera that can move up and down and left and right as well as zoom in and out.
Do you really need it to be wireless?? That adds complication and expense that should be avoided if possible. Also keep in mind that, even with a wireless camera, you still need to provide it with a source of power.
When you are searching, look for "outdoor PTZ cameras".
Two very popular on-line sources of security cameras are:
http://www.supercircuits.com
http://www.scdlink.com
(I have no connection with either of the above companies).

Q: Would you be upset if your next door neighbor installed outdoor security cameras around their house?
A: no, think i might jump in and get some too. It's not a bad idea.
Q: What is the best outdoor CCTV security camera for the money?
Primarily I need the best camera for night vision. I hear color cameras are good but not for nighttime. I don't live in a well lit area so B&W cameras might be the only option. I live in a hot climate (Florida) so the camera needs to be weatherproof and durable to withstand the humid sun and rain. Do any cameras come with audio as well? Anybody out there been there and done that? What can I expect to spend without giving an arm and a leg? I've gone to websites with 20 and 30 cameras to choose from. But I'm looking for specific model numbers to research Any personal consumer experience out there?? I don't want to waste money in shipping and handling charges and frustration with customer service because some sales guy is trying move slow product HELP!!! :)
A: Your requirements:
Nightvision
Weatherproof
I would recommend you SANYO VCC-XZ200.
Daynight camera = color with normal lighting, black&white in the dark
IP66 =Totally protected against dust+Protected against low pressure jets of water
Temperature: -10°C to +50°C (14°F to +122°F), Humidity: within 90%RH
Q: outdoor sex and security camera??
Before I begin with my question, my boyfriend has his own business and I am currently living with my parents, because I also working for them, so there's no way that we can live together. Okay, here is my question - last night, my long distance relationship boyfriend came by after his business meeting, and I knew what we really had in mind. To make the long story short, we drove around my town, and we got out his car, then we made out under a tree with doggie style. ( it was very late and dark ) Soon after we finished, I just realized that we were doing right in front of Alarm security system company, and I saw a state of art security camera posted right in front of the building. I know those camera record 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, and I am very sure whatever happened under that tree were all record on it. I just want to know does people go back to see those records if there's nothing happening that day?
It's our 1st time doing outdoor, I know it's wrong, I felt very bad about it.
A: LOL hey hey!!!!!
now i know those guards had a fantastic show!!!!!!!
common laugh about it u only live once hey!!!!
what i do know is that those tapes are usually only checked if there is a brake in else no they not looked at unless that's the company's policy
Q: need a cheap security cameras for outdoor use ?
your answers may save hundreds of my uncles pigs.
my uncle if a farmer (as you may have guessed) and he raises hugs, someone in the aria go out at night and poisons the hugs.
he has the barn locked all the time but the guy brakes the locks with a hammer. my uncle also has motion detection light all over the barns but they don't help because hes not home at night to see them.
so my question is what is the cheapest set up for a security cameras system.
he would prefer a motion detection, night vision, and tamper proof.
A: Check Frys Electronics. If you go to their website, on the left near the top of the screen in the Tabs, select Electronic Components, then Security, Closed Circuit Television... You want to look through CCTV kits or Recorders or Wired Cameras or Wireless Cameras. Those rated for outdoors will be marked "Outdoor" or "Indoor/Outdoor". Those with night vision will have built-in infrared emmiters that turn on when the ambient light is low enough.
The 4-channel (they also come in 8, 9 and 16 channel) surveillance DVRs typically have a menu selection that lets you select a motion detection area in the video frame. Normally, the video is captured at 1 frame every 4 seconds - but when the motion detection field senses motion, the video goes to real-time video capture.
As for "tamper proof" if you set them up right, you will get video of the bad person before they can destory the camera. The trick will be to locate the surveillance DVR someplace they can't find it - or high enough where they can't reach it - or see it. Or, the surveillance DVR could be inside the house and not with the pigs in which case, longer cables will be needed to run from the barn to the house. Some surveillance DVRs have IP addressing capabilities - this means they can be part of a computer network (including the internet) and be accessed from any other computer with appropriate security. All surveillance DVRs have a "monitor" output so they can be connected to a television's AV-input.
Lorex, Clover and Swann make decent consumer-grade surveillance gear.
You can set up 1 camera and a video feed pretty inexpensively - and have that video feed a computer. To do this, you will need a IP based security camera. There aren't many "outdoor rated" IP cameras... and they are expensive.
Q: Looking for weather-proof security camera...?
Im searching for a outdoor, weatherproof security camera without night vision or has night vision but able to turn off manually, because i already have a motion sensor light installed. Every outdoor camera i find has automatic night vision working at night. If you guys know where i could get those please let me know.
Thank you
A: You should check out some of the hunting magazines as they have plenty of ads for outdoor camera systems for keeping track of deer/feeding grounds. A good place to start would be :
1) The Red Head Hunting Catalog or email site[basspro.com]
2) Orvis Hunting Catalog or email site [www.orvis.com]
Plenty of Outdoor magazines like Field & Country, Outdoors, any of the camping magazines might also carry ads for these security cameras. Take a trip down to your local library and check out the magazines they already have (instead of buying the magazine) to see if this is what you really are looking for. Another place to check with would be an Army/Navy store. Good luck! Guard Dog
