A: I would perform full scans once a week (make sure you have the latest virus/spyware updates). This should be adequate for normal computer use. One additional freebie that will also help detect spyware is Spyware Doctor Starter Edition (search on www.download.com). It is a great spyware remover (best detection on the market), and will help to remove spyware PC-Cillin might not find. Run this scan weekly as well and you should be virus/spyware free. Another useful utility to use to keep your computer running smoothly is CCleaner. I cant find where i can delete files on this program. I did a scan but the scan wouldnt let me do anything to the file so i jsut continued on i figured i could delete it another way but i cant. does anyone know how? A: In addition to your anti-virus software you need anti-spyware software. Pop-ups are mostly caused by adware, spyware, and other malicious and unwanted software and using pop-up blocker won't help an infected PC. Since no single program can detect and eradicate all spyware, I recommend using Ad-aware and Spybot which are among the best (they are free). Running these programs in Safe Mode (tap F8 as the computer boots up and choose to boot to safe mode) can be more effective.

When I bought my Dell PC I also bought PC-Cillin internet security software to protect against viruses, malware etc. Now when I went to do an update, the program told me in order to continue getting updates, I have to pay $79 for a new subscription. Is this worth it? Or can I get the same virus protection for free? When you buy Norton and other similar programs do you only get 12 months of free updates?

A: Yes, definitely. All of these programs will tell you that it's "dangerous" to have 2 firewalls installed at the same time. However, Dell computers have a good way of keeping these two separate, and they really shouldn't conflict with each other. The idea that some people would give you is that these programs will "eat" at each other, but that's not true. It's usually because they want you to buy one program and not give money to their rival program. I know for a fact that both Microsoft and Trend Micro have made their programs so that they won't interfere with other programs. It is actually a better idea to have the two installed. Trend Micro is obviously the better program, but it doesn't hurt to have Windows Defender there too. On my computer, I have Trend Micro, Ad-Aware, Spybot, and Windows Defender. None of them interfere with each other, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. Hope this helps!

Can You Put PC-Cillin Internet Security 2006 on more than one computer? I did that once with norton and it expired it's account on the first computer and i was not able to reinstall it. This wont happen again with PC Cillin Will It? Thank You

A: neither , if you're interested in real protection , u should get kaspersky internet security suite , REAL good stuff , i've recently learned that norton has a serious bug that it doesn't scan any files smaller than 32 or 36 kb i don't remember the exact number , also , it doesn't detect spyware unless they are activated , pc-cillin is okay , but to be really safe , use kaspersky and it also doesn't make the pc slower at all. i hope i helped

I need a new security program sometime soon and I'm considering Pc-cillen. Should I buy the 2006 version or just wait for the 2007 one? I know the new version can currently be purchased online but I prefer purchasing it from the store. Right now the stores have 2006 so it's only a matter of time before they get 2007.

A: Buy the 2006 one. I had 2006 and I called them, they said I can get a free upgrade. Just go to their website,download it. When it asks for a CD key use the 2006 one. It works perfectly. Good luck
