Q: How do I completey disable Norton Internet Security Suite on Window's Vista?
I have disabled Norton Internet security suite after my subscribtion ran out but my security center indicates that I have two firewallls running, one is Zone Alarm, which I want to run, and the other is Norton, which I can't seem to find or disable? Any one with suggestions please let me know.

A: Hi Stretch, This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team. Please follow the steps below to properly remove Norton Internet Security from your system. 1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039?Open&docid=2001074957656166&nsf=sunset-c2002kb.nsf&view=0 2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well. Q: If i have verizon internet, can I download the verizon security internet suite for free on another computer?
I have verizon internet throughout my house, mostly wireless, and I just got a mac laptop. On my desktop computer, they installed the verizon security suite software, and I was wondering if I can install the same software onto my mac? thanks

A: Well, you can if you have an installation CD, but Verizon Internet Security Suite is TRASH. The minute I switched to AVG FREE (Did I mention I'm not paying for it.) antivirus, it detected 9 trojans that VISS never did. NEVER! Download ZoneAlarm to replace firewall. Ad-aware and Spyware Terminator, and AVG or Avast! free editions. VISS doesn't even rank on the list of best AV programs.

Q: What is most protective Internet Security Suite program?
I am running AVG ISS with SpySweeper, all current versions, and they seem to protect me well. However, I heard that Karspesky Internet Security Suite is the most protective of all the top sellers. But, Karspesky, like Norton and others, will not run with SpySweeper installed, even if run in manual mode. Do you think that I should continue with AVG ISS and Spysweeper or should I change to Karspersky ISS? Thanks.

A: Many folks have good success with, & recommend Kasp'y, just remember, securing Windows operating systems from Internet assault is not a single application, or even a suite. It's layers of protection, user habits, threat landscape awareness, system configuration, real time protection, and more. Generally speaking: as a system's convenience, interactiveness & flexibility increase: security decreases. Sorry, but using Windows requires you to become a security expert, it's that simple. Something they don't tell you when you buy this system.. ****************** Whatever 'layers' you decide on, add this to your counter-measures arsenal: "Sandboxie" (http://www.sandboxie.com/) runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer. Use it for: Secure Web Browsing: Running your Web browser under the protection of Sandboxie means that all malicious software downloaded by the browser is trapped in the sandbox and can be discarded trivially. Enhanced Privacy: Browsing history, cookies, and cached temporary files collected while Web browsing stay in the sandbox and don't leak into Windows. Secure E-mail: Viruses and other malicious software that might be hiding in your email can't break out of the sandbox and can't infect your real system. Freeware. Not overly difficult to use. Don't presume you can do just anything as it does have limits; listen to 'Security Now' #174 for more details (http://www.grc.com/securitynow.htm) Freeware. Not for 64 bit Vista platform. Q: Is McAfee Internet Security Suite suppose to look the same as Total Protection?
I just upgraded from McAfee Internet Security Suite to the Total Protection 3-User but I can't tell a difference - it looks like what I already had. I uninstalled Internet Security Suite before upgrading to Total Protection, but I ony uninstalled it through Add/Remove programs.

A: You can compare and contrast those two suites here: McAfee Total Protection Guide: http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=275 McAfee Internet Security Suite Guide: http://us.mcafee.com/root/package.asp?pkgid=273 Many of the core functions are the same between the two, but take a closer look at each of them and you'll see the difference.

Q: Ever since I put McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 on my laptop, the laptop is much slower?
Since putting McAfee Internet Security Suite 2007 on my laptop, my laptop is running much slower - taking 5 minutes to get to the desktop when switching the laptop on. How can I resolve this?

A: Uninstall it, ditch it. Both McAfee and Nortons bog down the computer. They try too hard at protecting you from viruses, it is almost like a virus. Someone else can recommend better solutions. For a free firewall, try Comondo. AVG or AVAST for a free anti virus. Spybot, Adaware, or even Windows Defender for a free spyware program. Chow

Q: Can someone advise on best internet security suite for small business network set-up?
We have a small office set-up of 10 computers and we are connected to a small business server. Currently our network is protected with Sophos anti-virus but would like to know if there are other products available that can provide a higher internet security suite for our network? You can also comment on how satisfied you are with your current internet security provider. Would greatly appreciate your comments. Obviously would like to hear from users rather than sales persons. Thank you!

A: hmm..there are a number of things you can do to be secure.you need the software.lets see.as far as a firewall goes i reccomend comodo firewall.its free for lifetime,it blocks all open ports so nothing bad can get in without your permission, and warns you when something is trying to connect to the net.as far as anti-virus goes, you should look into avira anti-virus,its the best anti-virus with very good detection.also up in the ranks is NOD32.but thats commercial.avira is freeware.not sure if they charge for commercial use. comodo firewall. www.comodo.com avira antivir http://www.filehippo.com/download_antivir/ you dont really need any other programs.with those 2 youll be pretty safe as long as you dont visit any malicious sites.

Q: I want to QUIT Verizon Internet Security Suite?
I want to QUIT Verizon Internet Security Suite. I already have paid another, so I don't this anymore!

A: It should be under add/remove. Click start, click control panel and click add or remove. Ifits not there, you might have to contact verzon as you might have to use an uninstaller.

Q: Why won't Verizon Internet security suite install on my computer?
Every time i try to upload verizon internet security suite from my desktop, a message appears that say "your system must be rebooted before this install or uninstall can take place" i restarted the computer and it still will not install! please help!

A: You need to disable what ever security programs you are using now including the firewall, anti virus, spy ware, and pop up blocker. Then you can install it. PS: Just remember to enable everything back to on that you are not useing via Verizon Internet Security Suite.

Q: Why does eTrust Internet Security Suite say I don't have administrator privileges?
I have installed the program eTrust Internet Security Suite, and have a problem where it denies me access saying that I do not have sufficent administrator privileges. There is and has been only one account on my computer, and it is an administrator account. Help! How can I get it to run, or at least get access to uninstall it?

A: This is because spyware/virus has edited your registry to REVOKE your administration rights... There are 3 possible ways to fix this... #1 visit http://www.ewido.com download this product (its free trial but allows you to scan and remove) install it and update it, run a full scan to remove any spyware. This may fix the issue. #2 Create a new user by clicking START>CONTROLPANEL>USERS OR USER ACCOUNTS> CREATE NEW USER>> Creating a new user will ensure that users administration privlidges are in place. Which will allow you to install it, and you need to switch to using the new user. The problem is you need to delete the old user once you make the new one, and if you delete the old user you will lose THAT users documents unless you have backed them up. #3 Format your machine, erase everything and reinstall windows after backing up your files such as word documents etc... Viruses and spyware disable admin because they know the first thing people do is install security software to remove exactly those bugs... If it disables it succesfully you are basically screwed because you cannot install the software to remove the exact item which caused the problem. Conclusion. Your machine is infected or at one time was. It doesnt matter cause the damage has already been done. For more help on this issue try visiting http://www.geekstogo.com

Q: What is the best Internet Security Suite on the market today?
I am currently trying out Norton 360 I was using Norton Internet Security Suite 2007 but it slows my pc way down.

A: Zone Alarm security suite is not bad. I personally run Kaspersky anti-virus and CounterSpy anti-spyware together with the Windows firewall and the firewall in my adsl router. If your computer is running slowly then you probably have spyware and adware on your system and you need to get it out. DO NOT heed the advice of those who say you don't need full time protection, you do. Regards, Zyfert http://spyware.cybersprout.com

Q: How worthwhile is a full internet security suite?
I currently use windows firewall, avg free antivirus, spybot search and destry anti spyware and lavasoft ad aware se personal anti spyware. Would i be better off using a security suite and if so which is the best one?

A: If you buy a security suite you might not be any better of with the choice you already have, for I have used Norton and in the past found that the software was alright, until the subscription run out, I then installed Norton Internet Security 2007 and found that some of the updates could not be installed and caused my computer to loose connection with the Internet. I now have PCguard from Virgin Media which is doing a good job and because I am a customer with them I get the software free. the company used to be known as NTL. good luck

Q: What is the best internet security suite for Windows XP Media Center edition?
I just put McAfee on my Media Center machine and this thing crashes more often than a drunk driver. I cannot do a thing on this computer now. Seems like a good waste of 49.99. Is it that Media Center has a tough time with anti-virus software, or that McAfee has a lot of bugs in internet security 2007?
