Q: I need card swiped security door systems for glass doors?
A: The Universal Card Access and Security System from General Meters of Colorado Springs, Colorado, is a computerized security system that manages all types of security sensors: forced door, door ajar, fire alarms, smoke detectors, motion detectors, breaking glass, and more. Alarm conditions are consolidated and displayed as icons on the master security monitor for easy understanding.
Q: Electrical Problem in my car, the security system (door locks) and roof lights do not work.?
After doing some work on my radio, wires touched and now my door locking system does not respond to the master lock and also my roof light does not function, what could have caused them to stop gunctioning and what could i do to repair it. Thank you
The car is a 2001 mitsubishi galant ES
A: Is this a Jeep Cherokee, by any chance?
You probably have a blown fuse. Check the fuses in the interior fuse box as well as any fuse box under the hood. If you don't have a fuse diagram, here's a guide to checking fuses with a multimeter:

Q: How does one replace a door frame with a security system on it?
I locked myself out of the house and kicked in the door. I cracked the door frame up doing this. I was totally shocked at how easy it was to break in the door. The door will still close and lock but it looks really bad I want to replace it, but I have the ADT security thingy on the top. Do I have to have a professional replace the door? If so, about how much should that cost? Can I replace the door myself? I'm fairly good with construction jobs. And will ADT have to come and replace that security thingy at the top of the frame and door?
If you think I can do it myself, I would love to have some reference (websites or books) that will help me with project.
Or if you think I should get a professional, make some suggestions as to who I should use. I'm in the Atlanta area.
A: most major security companies will come out and do it, especially when you tell them you are having a new door installed, or you can do it yourself with a little patience when removing the old one and installing the new, just have to drill a couple holes and route the wire back in it and reconnect the alarm button. if you buy the door, and have someone else install it, in michigan prices go for about $150 installed, including clean up and casing put back on the inside
Q: I need help choosing a home security system for front door, back door, and seven windows?
What is a reasonable price? Do you recommend ADT or Brinks? Thanks!
A: ADT is good because there is a direct link between you and the emergency services but there is a downfall is that you have to pay monthly
Q: I need to rewire an ADT security system on my door.?
We just replaced the door today & need to re-hook up the alarm. There are 2 wires that connect to a magnet on the house side & the magnet connects to another magnet in the door. When I re-connect the 2 wires (which had to be cut to put in the new door) - it tells the alarm the door is shut when it is not connected to the door magnet. Any suggestions short of calling ADT?
A: I have worked for ADT 18 years...Installer, service tech, Manager etc.
I think you are saying that you have reconnected the wires to the magnet (actually the reed switch) the zone is showing closed even when the door is open..is that correct? If so 1st try to disconnect the wire from the contact (magnet on house side) and see if the zone still shows closed, If it does you have a short on the wire, if it opens the zone then it sounds like you have a bad contact...You can email me if you need more help.
Q: Should I sell security systems this summer in St. Louis?
This summer I am headed off to St. Louis to sell home security systems door to door. Any opinions? or advice? What are others experience with selling security systems in St. Louis? How many systems could I expect to sell? Is it a product that is in demand in St. Louis? Is it an overall good decision? Also, when I get there what are some Must Do's or Must See's?
A: lol...St. Louis has one of the highest crime rates around. Business should be very good!
Q: A Pinnacle securtiy salesman just came to my door offering a "free" security system?
Has anybody heard of them before? We were actually looking for a home alarm system so we do want to do it, but I'm a little hesitant.
A: Free eh, not exactly a new ploy. Fact of the matter is, nothing is free. These systems tend to be lack-lustre and prone to false alarms.
I noticed a few people suggest ADT aka TYCO... remember them. yup the Pinnacle of honesty....
My suggestion would be to ask around, just because a company is smaller and doesn't have expensive TV commercials does not mean they are not good companies to deal with. A number of my monitored customers are Ex ADT customers for a reason. That being said, I'm sure there are some happy ones, I just don't run into them.
The locksmith has a few good pointers on protecting your home, although the window sticker trick has been done and is not always a good deterent as crackheads know this happens. There is probably a few of them trying to read this on their stolen computer. If you check out my website, I have written a number of articles on security related topics. Protection 101 goes through some simple tips on how to protect your home. False alarm info has information on the causes of false alarms as well as a little info on the "free systems". There is also an article on the flaws in wireless security systems which can be found in the archive. The URL is http://www.keepsafesystems.ca
Good luck, there are alot of sharks out there. Ask around locally, you may be able to find a reputable company that way.
Q: How do I turn on the door chilme of our Brinks home security system?
We recently moved to a new house and we aren't using the alarm, but I do like the door chime feature (little kids). We had it on, but then it randomly went off and we don't know how to get it back on.
A: On ours, their is a button that says chime on it.
You enter your security code and then push the chime button and it turns it on. If worse comes to worse, find the manual on the internet and read the directions.

Q: Remove Door From Security System?
A few years ago we decided to disable the monitoring service on our alarm system. We had a room addition put on and they neglected to remove the sensors for the doors taken out. Now we can no longer set our alarm due to that.
Can we remove those doors from the alarm system?
We have a MagnumAlert 1000 Series
Thanks!
A: You have a few options.
Do you know what the zone #'s are for these doors? If so you can bypass them, but you'd have to bypass them everytime you arm the system. Press B/A on your keypad, then the zone #. Repeat with the next zone. Do this before arming the system.
Yes, you can remove the doors from the system. You need to null them out and/or remove them from the partition. To do this you'd have to call the company that you were last monitored by. The only thing is companies don't normally allow the owners to go into programming of the panel. Plus they may need to supply you with the installers code which again, most companies don't do because the # belongs to them and another monitoring company could access your panel using that #. Your best bet would be to have a technician from your old Monitoring company come and just null the zones out. They'll charge you but they'll know the zones, the steps and the installers code. You may want to ask them to bring a battery with them because chances are if you've had your system powered down the battery is dead.
Q: my home security system beeps every time i go out the door. how do i turn it off?
help. its very annoying.
holy crap its annoying but oh well i guess im going to deal with it.
A: You will need the instruction book for the alarm panel.
You can then go into the menu programme and switch off the door and window bleep.
I quite like the security of the bleep on my alarm.
Q: Where can I find a Scholastic KEEP OUT Door Alarm Key Card Security System (a toy one)?
In New Orleans please
A: Many people are under the misconception that it is unnecessary to have a home alarm system if they rent an apartment or condominium. To the contrary, these types of properties often experience break-ins and related crimes. On these types of properties, wireless systems are the most effective. There are two parts to a wireless system - the main keypad and a receiver that needs no special wiring at all; simply plug it into a phone jack. Each of the window and door contacts send signals to the receiver wirelessly. Wireless requires no drilling through walls and can be moved with ease. Furthermore, if you qualify under certain contract stipulations, some companies won't charge you for transporting your system. http://www.homesecuritycontrol.com/alarm-systems.php
Q: what is the best lock for a communal security entrance system on a upvc door & where can i get them from?
A: you can have as suggested previous with the push button from b&q or you can go to any local window manufactor and ask what they would do.
there is also electronic latch lock that can work off a key fob
what you must remember is that if this is a communial entrance you need an over ride system in the event of fire.
you would also require a door closer to make sure it closes when someone enters/leaves.
what part of the country are you from? as i can send you info on who can help and give you rough costings on parts ect.
Q: Thousands of years old security systems?
Was there any kind of way, thousands of years ago, to make a kind of security system where only a person from your family, or descendent from your family could open an ancient door by DNA or something along those lines?
A: As of this date, nothing has ever been found that indicated DNA was known about or used prior to the last 50 years.
The oldest security systems that really worked was the ancient pyramids in Egypt. They used some truly ingenious traps, falls, oubliettes and false passageways that are amazing to see, even today.
I hope this helps and you can find it useful

A: 2x4's and nails
